Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was one of the most distinguished diplomats, scholars and teachers of India, apart from being the first Vice President and the second President of the country. As a tribute to this great teacher, his birthday is observes Teacher’s Day across India. As a matter of fact, when his students and friends asked him for the permission to celebrate his birthday, it was he who asked them to celebrate the day as Teacher’s day honoring the efforts of teachers across the country.

Birth & Education
Dr. S Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888, at Tiruttani, forty miles to the northeast of Chennai (then Madras), in South India. His early years were spent in Tiruttani and Tirupati, both famous as pilgrim centers. He graduated with master’s Degree in Arts from Madras University. In April 1909, he was appointed to the Department philosophy, at the Madras Presidency College. From then onwards, he was engaged in serious study of Indian philosophy and religion, and went on to become a teacher of philosophy.

Professional Life
In 1918, Doctor Radhakrishnan was appointed as the Professor of Philosophy, in the University of My sore. Three years later, he was appointed as a professor to King George V Chair of Mental and Moral Science in the University Calcutta. Dr. Radhakrishnan even represented the University of Calcutta at the Congress of the Universities of the British Empire in June 1926 and the International Congress of Philosophy at the Harvard University in September 1929, Dr. Radhakrishnan was invited to take the post vacated by Principal J. Estin Carpenter, in Manchester College, Oxford.
In Oxford, Dr. Radhakrishnan lecturer the students on Comparative Religion, From 1936-39, he served as the Spalding Professor of Eastern Religions and Ethic,s at Oxford University. In 1939, he was elected Fellow of the British Academy. From 1939-48, he was the Vice-Chancellor of the Banaras Hindu University. He later held offices that with India’s national and international affairs. He was the leader of the Indian delegation to UNESCO during 1946 Dr. Radhakrishnan served as the Ambassador of India to U.S.S.R. during 1949-52. He was also a member of the Constituent Assembly of India.

His Works
Dr. Radhakrishnan penned down a number of books during his lifetime. Some of which are like The Hindu View Life, The Idealist View of Life, Religion and Society, Eastern Religions and Western Thought and A Source Book Indian Philosophy. He had also written for some of the most reputed international journals.

Presidency of India
Dr. Radhakrishnan was the Vice-President of India form 1952 to 1962 and the President, General Conference of UNESCO, from 1952 to 1954. He held the office of the Chancellor, University of Delhi, from 1953-62. In May 1967, Dr. Radhakrishnan became the President of India, a post he served till May 1967. He was honored with Bharat Ratna in 1954. He was also knighted by the British government in the year 1931, but, he used only his academic title ‘Doctor’ throughout his life.

Teacher’s Day
His birthday is celebrated in India as Teacher’s Day on 5 September every year. Teacher’s Day in India is celebrated on September 5, every year. Indian Teacher’s Day is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education and was one of the greatest scholars and teachers of all times, apart from being the President of India. As tribute to this great teacher, his birthday is observed as Teachers’ Day in India. This is not a holiday but is know for celebrations across the country. It marks the birth anniversary of formed Indian President and teacher Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. During his tenure as a President, he was approached by his students and friends and was asked to celebrate 5th September, his birthday. He rather told them to observe this day as the day as the Teacher’s Day From then onwards, this day is celebrated as the Teacher’s Day.

The main purpose behind Teacher’s Day celebration is to make the teachers feel special about themselves. It is the time to show that you appreciate the efforts taken by them, to shape your career and channelize your knowledge to be utilized in the right way.

The philosophy of Tarkeshwar Narain Agarwal Teachers' Training College is to provide meaningful contribution in areas of Teacher Education that encompasses the overall development of the state which is one of the most important factors for general prosperity and progress. Today there is an urgent need to create a pool of teacher’s training with commitment and dedication in the areas of better teaching in the School, to become national leaders in the field of teacher education. We have to define our priorities in training students and teacher’s to meet the challenges of modern society. It is in keeping with this mission that we have established Tarkeshwar Narain Agrawal Teachers' Training College to promote and develop it as a Model Teacher’s Training institute in the state of Bihar.

       But this ambitious objective cannot be achieved without qualified, effcient and experienced teachers with total committment to their duty, With this end in view we have tried our best to recruit teachers who are fully equipped with knowledge, experience and skills, who inturn will inculcate these values in the students who will be the future teacher's Side by side with the quality of teachers proper and adequate infrastructure with healthy ambience is also equally important. Located almost by the side of Ara-Mohania National Highway in pollution-free rural environment on a plot of about one acre in the midst of nature, our institute meets this requirement sufficiently well. But we donot intend to rest with our laurels. Perfection, in fact, cannot be achieved in a day or two. It needs constant effort and commitment. We assure you that we shall continue move in this direction so that our institute attains heights of excellence and develops into an ideal centre of teachers training.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL's DESK

      No Society, and nation can develop and prosper without proper education and no proper education can be imparted without qualified and commited teachers for whom teaching is not just a job to earn livelihood but a passion, a missionary zeal. To be a successful an ideal teacher only knowledge and experience are not enough. Teaching is an art, to develop which proper skills are reuqired. To attain excellence in the art of teaching the teachers must be trained in the skills of teaching. Hence the need for good teacher's traning institute.

       To achieve this end Tarkeshwar Narayan Agrawal Educational & Social Welfare Foundation has set up T.N. Agrawal Teacher's Training College, Harigaon, affilliated to Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara, which has got recognition form National Council for Teacher Education (N.C.T.E.), E.R.C. Bhubaneswar. It has on its staff fully qualified and experienced and committed teachers who will give their best to the duty assigned to them.

       Located in peaceful rural environment, far from the madding crowd, from the hoot & whistle of the city, the Institute with its fully equipped infrastructure and qualified and competent teachers dedicated to their duty, aims at developing into, and we hope it will soon develop into, an ideal institution of teacher's training.

THE PHILOSOPHY of INSTITUTION

The Institute, Tarkeswar Narain Agrawal Teachers' Training College (T.N.A.T.T.C.) has been established in Harigaon Village in the District of Bhojpur (Bihar) just about 11 kms from Ara, the headquarters of Bhojpur District, Harigaon is now a historical village because the ancestors of the former Prime Minister of Mauritius and of the present Prime Minister Hon'ble Naveen Chandra Ramgulam, went to Mauritius more than 100 years ago. This Institue is situated on the Ara-Mohania National Highway. The objective of the Institute is to produce competent trained teachers for secondary schools to meet the urgent need of suffcient trained teachers, particularly in Bihar that is facing acute shortage of trained teachers, by imparting quality teacher's training in accordance with the guidelines of National Council for Teacher Education. To achieve this end the Institute has taken pains to appoint teachers who are well-versed in the field. For proper training, adequate infrastructure and proper environmet are pre-requisites which the Institute has tried, and will try, its best to provide.

       The Institute aims not just at providing training to teachers in the art of teaching but also inculcating all those moral values that will go to the making of ideal citizens of our Republic.

OUR MISSION

To provide infrastructural and institutional facility and employ competent teaching staff to import high quality education and training programmer leading to recognized B.ED degree as per the norms and standard of NCTE and Veer Kumar Singh University, Ara. To offer extra co-curricular programmer for the student teacher’s to improve their life skill and conduct training program in the field of alternative education, Environmental education, population education, education administration & Management educational and mental measurement observation by pears and community work to promote economic, social and moral standers for peace and prosperity among all in the field of Teacher’s Training program.

AN Overiew

Welcome to the profession of teaching no other profession is designed to have such a transformative effect upon the lives of individuals in our society. Teacher’s play a very important role in a student’s life At is to a great extent the teacher’s who decide the shape, a student’s life will take. So it is necessary the teacher is a role model. Building a teacher is creating the noblest value this is the inspiration behind establishing the teacher’s training college. The practice teaching that teacher’s give prepare them for the effective teaching role that they have to play. The teacher’s are expected to develop their skills in dealing with the community while on the job, what is interesting however is the creativity shown by the student in using specific local features to make decisive impacts on their educational goals. Culturally significant events or days take also been topped to great effect. The students have not restricted themselves to drawing upon existing cultural traditions. Many of them have introduced new elements is order to achieve their educational goals.

LABS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

The college offers full-fledged lab facilities in psychology, educational technology, Science and Work experience facilities for drawing and Painting, agriculture, gardening and horticulture, dance drama, music and Toy making etc.

SKILL TO BE ACQUIRED

Class room teaching, block teaching, blackboard writing set induction, using indigenous materials as educational survey, marco teaching micro teaching, Unit planning institutional planning, educational ministration and supervision, counseling and career guidance, measurement and evaluation, curriculum development, use of high-tech educational aids, community work and research methodology etc.

CAREER IN TEACHER EDUCATION

Students completing B-Ed degree will not only enhance their teaching skill but also their career prospects. A large number of vacancies in the Govenment School and private school are waiting for them.

BACHELOR EDUCATION (B.Ed.)

1_ Duration of Course: - 1 year
2_ Admission Requirements: - 10+2+3 Graduation or Equivalent Examination with 50% marks.
3_ Admission Procedure: - Directly on marks basis obtained in graduation or through enterance examination prescribed by the Government.
